In the death of the slaying of Matthew Dumas (photo included), after you read this letter received from Chief Ewatski, where he states clearly that the police has nothing to do with Social Services.  In such, declining a meeting on the issues of criminal negligence that is not to be looked at as political, but as judicial; where women were thrown on the street with their kids in apparent welfare fraud, where the Appeal Board has reinstated them because of failure by the Social Services; to prove guilt before putting the families in danger.

We demand an inquiry in the entire judicial system: that makes Jack Ewatski unable to respond to 911, because, as he says ‘legislation prohibits him from doing so’.  It is clear that racism or incompetence is at the top level of Winnipeg Police Services and that the tension will grow by far more in the (so-easily) clearing Police Officers in playing Robocop, “Shoot then ask questions”.

You would think that with the proper training that they supposedly have, that two officers should not have problems getting a screwdriver out of the hands of a teen, where now it is proven that he had nothing in his hand but his life.

I join also with Chief McIvor from the Sandy Bay First Nation, Dennis Whitebird, former Manitoba Grand Chief, that racism is at a high in Social Services, Justice departments; where now the feds are trying to buy their way out of responsibilities from the ‘Indians’ (as they would call them), buying them out at $10,000 each, and then: “Don’t bother us with your healing”.  Then the Wild West will begin.

It is a disgrace.  And to Chief Ewatski, you think a man in your position would not be afraid to meet a man face to face!  But like your officers say so well, you sit in the ivory tower and once and a while flex your muscle on Sargeant Avenue with the Mayor of Winnipeg, providing that you have twenty cop cars around you for your own safety.  I call this being a coward - and racist and we will push on you to making our way to the top in politics to bring peace and justice once and for all to Canada; by ridding ourselves of people like you and the Social Services Minster attempting to dissolve the Native issues over time with polluted water; bullets here and there and throwing them on the street, which is criminal negligence, except when it’s Indians.  Bravo Jack.  No wonder you left your wife.  How could you care about others when you weren’t man enough to stand up there and make it work at home, so you’ll know how to do it publicly?

We have facts that racism is as high in the ranks of RCMP, CSIS, and the Federal Government, not to mention the low-key effort in appearance in Manitoba, with the cases that we provide.

We include here to you, Mr. Ewatski, that gets your wages out of my pocket: now a woman whose son is in a room covered with oxygen tanks, now being threatened to be cut off for helping her cousin that was out on the street with her four kids, which one now may lose a child for sleeping in a basement, pregnant on a floor that is literally frozen.  I expect another letter from you, “case closed” because there’s nothing you could give all these people.  But when you arrest a criminal, he gets instant room and board at the Reman Centre, but the woman (as most male attitudes towards women), “Who cares?”

I’d love to meet you face to face, publicly.  I’m not angry but just to find out if you’re job comes first before true justice.  Perhaps you could answer this.  We have it world wide on our website for the world to see why we have problems in the North End, because our police department feels, “We don’t care about woman thrown on the street” that may end up doing drugs or prostitution because you don’t get involved in Social Services.

Perhaps one day you may find someone dear to you in trouble on the street.  Are you going to use the two thousand dollar Crimestopper reward - out of my pocket to help your own?  You have shown disgrace for a man who says he grew up in the North End and knows how to handle these things.  Show and tell, Jack.  But I wonder if you’ll ever be man enough to truly represent justice and peace without being like the Americans, with M-16 in hand and scud missiles.

Thank you for reading this far, if you did and I would like an open discussion with you on the air on these issues, to test your education in law enforcement or at least to find out what grade you supposedly passed with.  We need to get together and clean this and re-give credibility to Winnipeg.  And you, in particular, before you find yourself overtaken by gangs for your arrogance towards the plight of these people.

I don’t wish so, but if it came to that, don’t count on me to help you.  Perhaps you need to learn what suffering is in order to be interested in stopping it.  Now we have J. J. Harper, Matthew Dumas, the one a few months ago in the North, Betty Osbourne and how many more?  I hope you sleep well at night because I don’t, watching your behaviour as a representative of justice and peace.

Still open to helping you make the north end a landmark success, not by you, but by the people trusting in what we do to bring reconciliation between government, churches and law enforcement.

To the kids in the North End:hold on, my kids.  We’re getting there.  Some people sit too long so they can’t walk too fast.  That’s why most Winnipeg Police have some bellies on them at Robins’ Donuts, telling how tough it is.  Peace is coming.  Don’t be angry.  Join us.  Become a member of the People’s Power of Canada and we will clean up this mess, not you but what made you angry.

Thank you Chief on the reserves or should we call you Chief of Police?  Maybe I should give you an eagle feather so that you’d be that closer to being a chief.

Until then, yours truly,

Roger Poisson
