What Can Anyone Do In Ottawa?
January 29, 2009
When I go to Ottawa, I know that I will be representing the Party and what it stands for. Ann and I together will carry within us the wisdom of the teachings that Roger has taught to us, with the Spirit. We go as 2 vessels that will have been filled with the understandings of the lessons of the Spirit, even though there is more to learn, second by second. In the way that Roger and I were in Ottawa before, Ann and I will be there as a testament to the living will of God. I believe that without speaking, we will be making a statement about respect of women, that we have so gratefully learned and so firmly believe, not only for ourselves but for all women.
I do not know exactly what the session will be like but I remember there were rules for speaking and voting on the issue of minutes of broadcast time at an election. I remember when we were there last time, we mostly listened and learned. But when it was our turn to speak, you spoke, Roger, of the importance of equality for all. I also remember that you had your hand up for some time and they avoided hearing you for a second time. Then you spoke and said loudly, “It’s not about the minutes, it’s about family...it’s about being one family. It’s about how much the people are together with you in your own riding and across Canada.” Then you asked me to cast our vote. (At that time, I was grateful not to have to speak).
I know that this trip will be work. They have all been work. I ask the Spirit to be with me and guide me to use my tongue in the way He would want it used. For I know, without a doubt that it must be used. If not, what is the purpose of being there? I ask the Spirit for strength, for confidence and for the love to impart His will through any words He may have me say. It is not about cleverness or power. Because we know from the teachings, if there is a conflict or a battle, there will be never be a winner. Just now, I believe that this is what you have already told them... that we are to be together as one family. That in a family, when everyone gets a fair share, the whole family works together with respect of each other. Everyone has a job to do, everyone’s opinion matters, there is give and take, there is respect, there is love and fun and the whole family moves forward, together. We realize how important we are to one another. This is how Canada should be and can be and will be.
What is extremely important now, that we have seen from the last election, is the great disparity between the rich and the poor. In the riding in which you ran, Roger, there were thousands of poor. The North End of Winnipeg is one of the poorest ridings in Canada. But it is mostly those poor that support us. We had many meetings with them at Robin’s Doughnuts on Selkirk Avenue. But at the end of the election, we saw that there was only a 43% turnout from this riding. So many are giving up. And how were we, a Party supported by the poor, able to get our message out? Why are we told in Ottawa that if you have enough money, you can buy as much advertising as you want? If this is the case, the poor will never have a chance. Only those who have money will be able to have their voice heard, but will they hear the voices of those that need to be heard? I remember, Roger, you have said, “Without a penny, we will win Canada.” We must all be willing to do with less so that we may understand all who have nothing. The Spirit has told us that there must be honesty. No breaking rules anymore for the advantage of the rich and the big parties that don’t represent Canadians. The poor and the rich must become one. All must be recognized and heard. That is the only way to go forward.
I thank you for giving me the opportunity to reflect like this. Now, I am happy to go to Ottawa. I can’t wait for the chance to speak with the Spirit.
I really love you Roger and Amy. I really, really do.
Love Laurel
With the Spirit
